My work has evolved from my first mosaic flower using gummed squares of paper, made when I was 6 years old, to where I am now – using the mediums of collage, mosaics, photography, printing, and painting.

The natural beauty of Gloucester is a great influence on my abstract paintings and collages. As is bringing together unusual combinations of images, materials, colors, and themes in abstract ways. Surrealism is too grand a word for this so I will use mash-up, which sums it up better.

Be they imagined ripples of mermaids swimming around Thatcher Island, or my latest series of collages – When Frida met Aubrey - merging the very personal paintings of Frida Kahlo with the fine line drawings of Aubrey Beardsley, who both broke the art rules and social norms of their times.

My work is a combination of nature flora, color and pattern. For many years I worked with glaze on ceramic and porcelain tile, fired in a kiln. I designed and executed murals commissioned by interior designers and architects for commercial and residential spaces.

Working with glaze and firing requires many years of trial and error to achieve a particular color palette as well as perfect color matches and textures for restoration projects.

Recently my mediums have been oil, acrylic and watercolor on paper, canvas and fabric, incorporating painting with prints from my botanical drawings.

I received my academic training in illustration, fine art and design from Butera School of Art, The Montserrat College of Art, The School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts & The Boston Academy of Realist Art.
